This movie was very simple and vulgar, so it looked like an American comedy. I see an American remake in my future. It was quite refreshing for a French comedy, although not my better type. French comedies usually start out funny and suddenly become deadly serious before the end.
His siblings are greedy and downright evil
There are no hidden aspects to anyone – Benoit remains awkward and shy from start to finish. Fake Bride has no social graces from start to finish. Only the parents are the same standard rich and lost couple you see in most French comedies. They were the least interesting because their arc is completely predictable in such films.
I see an American remake in my future
I’m glad I have unlimited movie tickets though, because movie ticket prices have gone up so much that I wouldn’t be happy spending a lot of money on it.
